Club CarIn 1959 the Bel-Airs purchased a '34 Ford three-window coupe from the Brissette Bros. The car had previously been raced at the dry lakes and had modifications including a roll-cage and center steering. Using a series of borrowed engines and with the sponsorship of Daddy's Auto Body and Ernie's Camera Shop, the car was successfully raced at the San Fernando and Pomona drag strips over several years.
1963 Bel-Airs Car Show at the Glendale ArmoryThe Bel-Airs' Festival of Cars attracted many well known hot rods and dragsters in 1963. The Mooneyes dragster, the Shudderbug, and the now famous La Masa '32 roadster were all there. The success of the event required significant planning and major publicity efforts.
